Monday Music

One advantage of ALL my little girls in school is that I can now listen to anything that I like ;)
This is just one of the new songs that I am listening to right now.

Wishing Everyone a lovely week.
Thankfully our outlook looks brighter with the rain shower I am watching to help curb our drought situation.

Terrific Reminder

This hit home that the goal is not about getting THINNER but HEALTHY.  On my little adventure of getting fit I will  have to be a role model , not a runway model,  to our three girls.

Day surgery looks like....

Hubby getting prepped for minor surgery ~ Little munchkins running around the bed asking what all the levers, wires, and tubes were for.  Pumpkin's major concern were shots.
A large book bag full of little activities for the girls to do. Our little rainbow in the waiting room made me smile :)

 Starbucks in the lobby was greatly appreciated while waiting and keeping up to date on Hubby's status with our fancy pager.

 A beautiful 2 story water fall in the lobby ~ the girls loved to look into the water and pretend to be mermaids.  While I was driven to madness by the constant need to visit the girls room  from the 'relaxing' water sound.

Hubby is on the mend and right now enjoying working from home.
We wish everyone a great week and a terrific new year for all the kiddos starting back to class today like our Munchkins.  { yup!  I cried sending little Pumpkin to Kinder}

Workout Inspiration / Funny

Week 3 started yesterday with our second fit test and it was met with a little road block.  Hubby is slated to have surgery and was advised to stop cardio ~ no worries not a big surgery.  However, I am going to be losing a workout buddy which we BOTH really really need for this intense program.  So we  made the decision to restart the program from the begin once he has cleared to start working out again.

But I did find a perfect little reminder that will keep me going in the mean time with little workouts till the program starts back up again

Boredom Buster ~ Finger Knitting

The count down to the first day of school has begun but what to do with the girls until then?!?!?  It is summer and HOT here in Texas so indoor activities are a MUST.  Well we came up with knitting since they noticed my unused needles in my work basket.  Finger knitting is easy for little ones and cheap ~ all you need are their lovely little fingers and some yarn.

Gotta love Youtube ;) This was the easiest for my little visual learners to understand but there are many out there some different than this but all resulting in the same little tubular chain.

 This is Pumpkin doing her best impersonation of a kitty  ;)

She was so happy to learn how to Knit ;)

 Squirt first to finish her lovely new scarf ;)

 Peanut encouraging her sisters ;)

 Pumpkin FINALLy done after having to start over a few times ~ fingers got caught in a huge knot o_o

Once I got them started they were off and having a blast ;)  Now the girls have TONS of new scarves to wear for the first day of school ~ nothing like showing off a bit of personality and your own craftsmanship at the same time.

  If you have any tips or ideas I am ALL ears ;)

Crazy Days of Summer Photo Challenge Week Nine ~ Bubbles

It is way tooo hot here in Texas to have the Munchkins outside to capture a bubble photo for the challenge.  Have no fear!  On a trip out to lunch the other day and we passed a little waterfall and all those bubbles made the girls giggle and want to wade in the water ;)

To see more lovely happy bubble photos pop over to Live and Love .... Out loud ;)

Fitness Adventure

Last week Hubby and I started a new workout routine.....

Yup!  It IS bananas!  The workouts are crazy fast and shorter compared to the P90X workouts I just finished.  I have to say that this cardio program will hopefully get me over the little {baby} bump I still have after 8 years.  Something that I realized ~ it is NOT the number on the scale that matters but how you feel in your clothes and when you look in the mirror.  So far no change in clothes or mirror but I am sore from my earlobes to my toes.  This has called for research into bathsalt recipes for after workout soaks ;)

We started week 2 last night and I love working out with Hubby.  We get to cheer each other on and laugh ~ which is not recommended while doing INTENSE cardio exercises ;)

A must have AFTER this workout is...

the not so bad tasting {anymore} recovery drink from Beachbody.  I did not like it so much after the P90x workouts but I NEED this after Insanity.   It is sooo worth the money!  I have my fingers crossed that by the end of this two month program I will have "earned" my free t shirt from Insanity.

Tortilla or Pita?!?!?

I have lived in Texas for 12 + years now and we thought it was high time to make tortillas.  The girls and I had so much fun making these guys that we will be sure to be making more and not buying the ones from the store.

So here we go....

original source My Own Private Kitchen

2 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp powder {baking powder}
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp vegetable oil {canola oil}
warm water

1. combine flour, salt, powder in a bowl.  Add oil and evenly mix with dry ingredients.  Add warm water 1 tbsp at a time, thoroughly combining ingredients with water each time until dough holds together.  Once dough is combinded, knead dough until elastic, 2 to 3 minutes.  cover dough and set aside for at least 30 minutes.

 2. Roll dough out into a cylinder, about 1 inch thick.  Cut into 1 inch wide segments.

busy little hands keep out of mischief

 Roll segments into round balls and cover with a towel.  Heat a large grill or skillet over med-high heat.

3. Place ball in between parchment paper and roll balls as thin as possible to form tortillas.  10 to 12 inch in diameter {we were not very successfull in this step but we had fun  ;)}

 see our TINY little tortilla

Place tortilla on skillet cook till golden brown 30 seconds to 1 minute per side.  Once done remove and place into a towel to keep warm.

Okay now look at our little tortilla / pita creation!  These were a hit with the Girls and Hubby liked them as well ;) Yippee!  Another semi success in the kitchen.
